Fantastic Response to Winter Appeal!

Christmas has come early at Evo Services Ltd after staff brought in sackfuls of donations for local homeless charity Centrepoint Outreach.

Evo Sales and Communication Director Steve Buttery was overwhelmed by the fantastic response to their winter appeal: “At the beginning of December we asked the staff if they’d like to donate clothes, footwear, toys and books to help Boston's homeless have a Christmas to remember, not one to forget this year. I’m amazed how much we managed to collect – everyone has been so generous.”

Liz Hopkins, Chief Executive of Centrepoint Outreach, thanked all staff at Evo Services Ltd for their generous donations of clothes, toys, books and   DVDs. She explained that the donated items will either be given to those in need this Christmas or sold in the charity shop to raise much needed funds to support the work of Centrepoint Outreach with homeless and vulnerable people in the local community."

Merry Christmas from Evo Services

Evo Services would like to wish all its clients, staff and suppliers a very Merry Christmas!

Did you know, in Bulgaria Christmas is celebrated on 25th December but preparations for the festivities begin with Advent, which lasts 40 days and starts on 15th November?

One Bulgarian legend is that Mary went in to labour on ‘Ignazhden’, 20th December (Saint Ignatius of Antioch’s Day) and she gave birth on Christmas Eve, but it wasn’t announced until the following day. 

As such, the main Christmas meal is eaten on Christmas Eve or Badni Veche, as Bulgarians call it. 

20th December is also New Year in Bulgarian culture. On this day it is traditional to eat a special ring-shaped cake called kolaks.

Meanwhile in Romania, Christmas and midwinter celebrations last from 20th December until 7th January. On St. Ignatius’s Day (20th December) it is traditional for families who keep pigs to kill one for the Christmas meal on this day.

Earlier in the year, we were invited to meet another new client as they were struggling to find enough good quality workers to meet their daily requirements.

Within 24 hours of the initial conversation, we provided them with 12 workers, and two days later that number increased to 30!

Evo Services Saves Christmas

Evo Services Ltd is coming to the rescue of East Midlands and East Anglia food producers and manufacturers as the festive season takes hold.

According to an industry survey of labour providers supplying the UK food supply chain workforce, only 30 per cent have been able to fulfil all their clients’ labour requirements.

Half of those surveyed reported a drop in labour supply and 61 per cent stated that the quality of workers had worsened in the last year.

But thanks to recent investment in additional operations staff and the appointment of the first dedicated recruitment consultant at the company, the team here at Evo Services is among the 30 per cent of providers able to deliver additional workers for their clients.

Steve Buttery, Communications and Sales Director, said: “It’s not an exaggeration to say we’ve been planning for a busy Christmas period for months. We’ve remained in close contact with our clients to ensure any last-minute additional worker needs have been addressed quickly.

“We know from experience that insufficient worker numbers can lead to delays and a drop in productivity, so it’s imperative that we forge strong relationships with our clients and workers to enable us to react appropriately in these circumstances.”

Christmas is a busy time of year for many industries, but the call for temporary workers in
food production, horticulture, manufacturing and warehousing and logistics is higher than ever at this time of year.

Steve added: “It’s important not to leave it too late to secure additional workers for your business during the festive period.”

We’ve Got the Best Team in Boston!

We’re thrilled that our admin team has been named Best Team at the 2017 Boston Standard Business Awards!

We were also recognised in the Customer Service award category at the ceremony, which took place at the Duckworth Jaguar Land Rover showroom in Boston on Thursday (30th November).

Our Communications and Sales Director Steve Buttery attended the ceremony with colleagues Anzela Turkina, Head of Administration, accountant Terry Murphy, Shift Co-ordinator Valeri Todorov and Director Iwona Lebiedowicz.

Anzela said: “It was a fantastic evening, although a bit of a blur as we were so shocked and humbled to have won; I think it will take a while for it to sink in! This is the first time we’ve been recognised in this way, and I couldn’t be prouder of our achievements.

“Our admin team may be small, but it has big ambitions when it comes to customer service and I’d like to thank my colleagues for all of their support in making this award win possible.”

The annual awards celebrate businesses in the Boston area which go the extra mile for their customers or deliver innovative services and products.

Steve added: “It was an honour just to be shortlisted in the Boston Standard Business Awards, but to actually win was an incredible feeling.

“We were up against some great businesses, many of which have a high profile in the town, but I am so pleased that Anzela, Terry, Mark and Tsvetelina were recognised for their efforts as they do a fantastic job. We are very lucky to have them!”

Once the judges have completed their task, all finalists will be invited to attend the awards ceremony at the Duckworth Jaguar Land Rover showroom on Thursday 30th November, where winners and high commended businesses will be announced.
